Mommy-morphosis

So its started. I am slowly morphing into motherhood. Perhaps it is the fact that I am 3 days away from the majestic and glorious days of the second trimester. I can't really say. All I know is that over this weekend, the desire to create the nursery has finally kicked in. I have spent the last few hours scouring BabiesRUs, Ebay, Amazon, Target and JcPenney's online. Believe it or not, before this I had not spent one minute of one day in my life looking for baby items. To me it has always felt kind of like picking out a wedding dress while you're in high school. So in case you are at all interested in these things, here is the link to the nusery decor I am leaning towards. Its Beatrix Potter (Peter Rabbit). My mom had Beatrix Potter for Kathryn and she thinks she still might have it stored away somewhere. If so, I will use that. But if not, this is the newest Beatrix Potter stuff that is out. Its called "Cottage Tales". http://www.countrylane.com/pix/cc91.jpg I like that its neutral and can go either way.

Other signs of encroaching parenthood have been: bidding on a slightly bigger, more child-friendly house and making "couples dates" with other parents. Some friends of ours that have a baby already just found out that we are expecting and are ecstatic for us and want to hang out so we can pick their brains about pregnancy and parenthood. I am thrilled because I don't have many friends in this city and have zero friends with kids. So this could be a very important connection in the near future.

I won't go into too much detail about the house. I am too emotionally invested right now; a huge danger, I know. But I can't help it. If we don't get this house I will be devastated. We will know on Tuesday. So I will either have a really super birthday or a really crappy one.

But for those of you who feel that all these changes means you are losing the Lizzy you once knew and loved, please be assured that I am still here! Last night I was shaking my enlarging ass on the dance floor as passionately as ever. I'm sure my kid doesn't know what the hell was happening to him as he got sloshed and bounced all over the place. I can see the caption bubble over his head: "Either mommy and daddy are getting busy tonight or mommy's breaking it down to that mean techno beat!"
